CMU-Africa
Carnegie Mellon University is one of
the world’s most prestigious institutions for engineering, computer science,
and innovation. With its Africa campus in Kigali Innovation City, Rwanda,
CMU is building a new generation of African leaders who can solve pressing
local and global challenges.
The CMU-Africa Bridge Program was
established to ensure that young African students can seamlessly transition
from undergraduate education to globally competitive graduate studies.
What
is the CMU-Africa Bridge Program?
The Bridge Program 2025 is a six-week,
in-person graduate preparatory course. Its goal is to strengthen the
academic, technical, and professional foundations of students who want to
pursue advanced studies in fields such as:
- Computer Science
- Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Information Technology
- Data Science
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Embedded Systems and Internet of Things (IoT)
- Software Engineering
- Telecommunications and Networking

CMU-Africa Campus, Kigali Innovation City, Rwanda
- Time Commitment:
~10 hours per week
- Monday – Thursday: 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM (CAT)
- Friday: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM (CAT)
- Cost:
Completely free (transport and refreshments provided)
This flexible schedule allows
participants to balance the program with their other academic or professional
commitments.
Eligibility
Criteria
To apply for the CMU-Africa Bridge
Program 2025, you must meet the following criteria:

Academic Background
- Be in your final year of undergraduate studies
or a recent graduate from one of these Rwandan universities:
- University of Rwanda
- Mount Kigali University
- University of Kigali
- African Leadership University (ALU)
- Adventist University of Central Africa
- UNILAK

Field of Study
Applicants must have a background in
one of the following STEM disciplines:
- Information Technology
- Computer Science
- Computer Engineering
